Kaden Hanas, who played for the Rocky Mountain Raiders, CFR Chemicals Midget AAA Bisons, and most recently the Drumheller Dragons, has signed on with the WHL Spokane Chiefs.

The 19-year-old forward from Strathmore talked about how it feels joining the Spokane Chiefs. Hanas said it is a once in a lifetime experience, as this is the best junior league in the world to play in as a junior.

He mentioned about his first game he played with the Spokane Chiefs, saying it was really good and an unbelievable experience. There was a huge crowd watching the game. Hanas was able to get an assist in the game.

Hanas talked about how he improved during the season with the Drumheller Dragons, saying he tried working on skill development. He thinks he picked up a gritty game to himself during the course of the season, so he embraced his role a bit more.

He talked about the team he originally played on, the Drumheller Dragons, saying they play very well, as they are third in the south. The team has great coaches, according to Hanas, and thinks the team will make a real push into the playoffs.

Coach for the Drumheller Dragons, Kevin Hasselberg, said “We are excited for the opportunity Kaden has earned with the Chiefs.” Hasselberg went on to say, “His passion for the game and his ability to stir the emotions on the ice will be missed by our team. Kaden is a professional and a fan favourite in Drumheller and he will undoubtedly do the same for the Chiefs.”

During the summer, Hanas said he skated three days a week. He also practiced stick handling, shooting, and plays of pressure. He said he worked hard and trained like a pro, and has thrown a lot of effort at it.

Hanas mentioned that anyone who would want to follow in his footsteps to keep working hard, and doors will open. He said it is tough, but if you believe you are good you will find a way to play at the highest league possible.
