Katie Coulter and her grade 3/4 class from Brentwood School is the classroom of the month!

With Christmas coming up in just a couple more weeks, Coulter said it's been a fun time in the classroom as the students prepare for the holiday season.

"We're busy getting ready for our Christmas concert on December 22, so we're practicing our song and our dance, and we're doing lots of Christmas crafts. We started writing letters to Santa, all the fun stuff," she said.

So far, Coulter said the students are doing a great job practicing and expects the concert to go very well! She is also excited to bring the concert back after a two-year absence due to covid.

"This is our first Christmas concert in the gym since pre-covid, and so one of our traditions is we always end our Christmas concerts with the whole school up there singing We Wish you a Merry Christmas, and that is something that I have really missed the last few years and I can't wait to just see all of our students up there on stage  to send us all off into the holiday break."

Outside of the exciting Christmas stuff going on, Coulter added the entire year has been going quite well so far. She and her class have really enjoyed the return to in person learning, as this has also brought back assemblies, presentations, and dances in the gym. It's also brought unique learning opportunities, like a digital skills week with the Telus World of Science, who taught the kids how to code!

As for the rest of the year, Coulter said she doesn't expect it to be too difficult for the students to return from the Christmas break, even though you may have been expecting it to be quite a challenge to get the kids back into the school mindset after the break.

"I think the biggest thing is just getting them back into routine and I feel like everybody is kind of craving that after Christmas time, right? I actually don't find it too challenging after Christmas, they're kind of ready after the break to get back into that routine and get back to what we were doing before."

Classroom of the Month is sponsored by Audra Reinhardt with CIR Realty with lunch provided by Boston Pizza.  Congratulations to Miss Coulter and her class for being November's classroom of the month!
