The Strathmore Stampede has had locals and visitors looking forward to it all year, and with the government pumping the breaks on Covid regulations it's sure to be bigger and better.

With the famous rodeo, chuckwagon races, running with the bulls and the James Barker Band concert, event planners at the Ag Society have been working hard to bring attractions and entertainment features both new and old to Strathmore this year.

Event Coordinator at the Strathmore & District Agricultural Society Kate Dubois said this about some of the new entertainment coming up at the Strathmore Stampede next weekend

“This year we have a few new performers coming to the Heritage Stage and Trackside Bar like Shannon Smith and Lindsey Butler. As for the grounds, we have Cobbs Adventure Park making its return, I believe they were here last in 2018. We also have Can-am wrestling coming to show off and educate the youth about some wrestling moves with some mini shows every night, and then we also have Kissling farms coming onto the grounds with their goats and a few other animals,” she said.

Tickets to Lindsey Butler, Shannon Smith and others are included free of charge after purchasing grounds admission. However, if you want to see the James Barker Band, tickets will be $39.00.

Dubois is happy to see a return to ‘normal’ after two years under Covid and is excited to see the community out and interacting again.

“Community is a huge part of our Strathmore Stampede and we rely quite heavily on the community in terms of helping out volunteering. Having the community altogether and having them in one spot for the next four days, enjoying the rodeo, chuckwagons. running with the bulls, live entertainment and all the other entertainment pieces. It's huge and it's really nice to see everyone get together and have a good time.”

The fun doesn't stop there, as the Stampede is also hosting Extreme Dogs, which will show some amazing canine athleticism. The heavy horse pull will show equine strength and endurance, and Chris LeBlanc and 'Joel Ostrom and the Tin Star Band' will be playing shows Saturday and Sunday.

To purchase tickets visit strathmoreag.com. Tickets are going fast, so Dubois is urging locals to snatch up tickets now.

“We have a piece of entertainment for everyone. Whether you're five years old or 65 years old, there's something that you can do and enjoy it. Tickets are going quick, there are only 35 days left until Strathmore Stampede kicks off, so get your tickets now. Our family Friday is $15 for the rodeo and $20 for the chuck wagons, Saturday and Sunday are $25 for the rodeo and $35 for running with the bulls and the chuck wagons, and then Monday is a combo ticket for $35 so you get to see the chucks and the rodeo."

After nearly two years of uncertainty, the certainty that Strathmore Stampede will provide both an entertaining weekend and an excellent way to connect with people in the community is both exciting and reassuring after two years of isolation and anxiety in the rearview mirror.
