United Conservative Party Leader Jason Kenney, fresh back from his trip to India has had to defend it.

The Notley government criticized his trip as one that confused Indian officials as to it's purpose.

Kenney disagrees, saying it will help Alberta in the long run.

"Should we elect a conservative government next year, we will already have hyper-charged our relationship with the senior commercial and political leadership in India. I think that's good for Alberta. In the meantime I've done nothing there to praise this province. I did nothing to criticize our current government as I said, I was a member of Team Alberta."

Premier Rachel Notley criticized Kenney calling him the "Minister of Make Believe."
