Our King of the Week is in his rookie season with the Strathmore Wheatland Kings, number 22, Cade Jackson! Jackson plays center for the Kings but has also played as a winger as well so he can be quite versatile on the ice. He already has 7 points in his rookie season with the Kings, 4 goals and 3 assists. Jackson has had a pair of skates on since his dad put him in some when he was about five years old and ever since then, he's loved the sport. Jackson said he loves being part of the Wheatland Kings, his teammates are great and it's a lot of fun.

The Kings have two back to back games this weekend, one against the Coaldale Copperheads and the other against the Okotoks Bisons. Jackson said that the games are going to be tough but anything is possible, the best thing to do is just show up and play the best hockey you can. When it comes to preparing for game day, Jackson said a good nights sleep and get your head in the hockey zone is important. Eating a good meal and making sure you take things seriously are also important he said, no time for joking around, just stay focused on playing a good game.

In the off season Jackson likes to golf a lot, train and work out, and just hang out with friends and family. He said he used to play lacrosse when he was younger but stopped because he wanted to focus more on hockey. Jackson's all time favourite hockey memory was in his first year in midget, his team won the city championship and went on to provincials where they finished third. It was a great year of hockey he said, they only lost like twice in the regular season. "Who doesn't love winning?," Jackson said.

More exciting news just recently came for Cade Jackson as he and some of his fellow teammates will be on the HJHL South Division Prospects Team. He said it's a huge honour to be considered for the team and he's really happy that his coaches decided to pick him and some of his teammates to be on the team. He also said it's a great opportunity to get noticed and he looks forward to representing the team.

You can see Cade Jackson and the Kings take on the Okotoks Bisons this Sunday at 4:45 p.m. here at home.
