Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit seek public assistance in obtaining video or surveillance footage of a suspect vehicle involved in the shooting that occurred on October 7, in Langdon. The deceased in this incident has been identified as 39-year-old Trong Minh Nguyen, a resident of Langdon.

The suspect vehicle, which is described as a 2019 black Dodge Ram,  may have been sighted in Langdon, Strathmore or Chestermere between Sept. 30, 2022, and Oct. 7, 2022. The suspect vehicle was later located abandoned by RCMP.

RCMP are looking for any of the following to help with the investigation:

  •  Surveillance footage;
  •  Dash camera video; and/or,
  •  Additional information on suspects or suspect vehicle.

On Friday, October RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a shooting outside a private residence in Langdon.

RCMP confirmed that high-risk offender Tron Minh Nguyen who was released back into the community and was said to have been residing in the Strathmore area last April was killed on October 7th in Langdon. 

A video of the shooting has been circulating online and shows a vehicle being driven by Nguyen pulling into the driveway of a home on Boulder Creek Way.

The footage also shows two men approaching the driver's side of the vehicle from the front and back prior to firing into the driver's side window.

The footage also shows a 39-year-old woman who police say was air-lifted to a hospital in non-life-threatening condition exit the vehicle before heading toward the house and which time the shooters get in the truck police describe as a 2019 black Dodge Ram and leave the scene. 

Nguyen who was in jail for conspiracy to commit murder and counseling an indictable offence which was not committed. 

Nguyen had also been convicted of previous offences including firearms offences, assault of a peace officer, and failing to comply with his release conditions.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of the investigation and is investigating the incident as a homicide.
