Art culture comes to life each month throughout the Strathmore Municipal Library, as an artist's works are featured monthly for visitors to view, and if they like what they see they can purchase works to support the local artist.

This month Gail Ann Bourgeois is the artist in residence showcasing different mediums of work, “A lot of them are oil, there are some acrylic or mixed media, but the main ones are mostly oil ones, and the theme is the beauty of Canada.”

Living in four provinces and having traveled coast to coast, Bourgeois has created pieces from places she has visited and also from photos friends have sent her creating a lot of variety in her artwork for visitors to appreciate.

Sharing her love for Canada and what it has to offer to those who come in to see her work is part of what drives her to create, “I'd like them to appreciate the beauty we have in this country, especially now when traveling out of the country is kind of limited.”

Bourgeois would like to see her pieces inspire people to want to travel and explore the picturesque places that we have in Canada. Her pieces can be seen during the Chestermere Fine Arts Guild shows this year and on her website; however, her belief as with many artists is that it is always better to see and experience art in-person.

There are different spaces in Strathmore celebrating arts and culture including the library, the Strathmore Vault Cultural Collective, and Wheatland Society of Arts both located in downtown Strathmore.
