Christina Hatton-Fearnley found success in 2020 after taking on the role of author releasing her first book The Lost Photograph. She is back in 2021 with her second book, Kevin The Pack Goat.

Writing has been something close to her heart for most of her life and over the past couple of years, she has made her way back to it.

Hatton-Fearnley found inspiration pretty close to home for her latest book, "My inspiration for the book is one of our pet goats named Kevin.  We have a farm in Wheatland County and it's called Climbing High Farms and there we are training our alpine goats to carry camping gear.   Kevin is actually my husband's favorite goat and I just love watching the two of them work."

Readers will follow Kevin on his journey, Kevin is bored with farm life and wonders where the farmer goes every day, so we see where his curiosity and his sense of adventure will take him.

Being local and seeing the support over the past year from the community has helped to encourage Hatton-Fearnley to keep writing, "I love seeing the local businesses just rally behind me and my books.  Denise at Lil' Hoots, she's being amazing supporting me and both my books in Strathmore. Value Drug Mart has been really amazing too." Both stores will be carrying the new book as well. Readers will also be able to borrow the book from the Strathmore library.

Already an accomplished photographer, Hatton-Fearnley has found another way to express her creativity through her writing. Kevin The Pack Goat has felt like a passion project that includes the entire family, especially her husband.

"He was like, spend whatever money you need to spend. This book needs to get out, probably because it's about him and his best friend," their 2 children were also patiently waiting to see the finished project, although she did say her son Oliver found that wait to be pretty tough.

Her new book can be found locally but she has also had requests from Switzerland and the U.K. to have her book shipped overseas.  A member of the goat packing community in Switzerland told her he would hike up the mountain with her book and send her a picture back so Kevin The Pack Goat from Wheatland County has gone global!

Along with children's books, Hatton-Fearnley is in the process of writing an adventure novel for children at around a grade three and up reading level.  Kevin The Pack Goat can be purchased locally or ordered directly by emailing climbinghighfarms@gmail.com
