On the evening of July 4, a home just east of Strathmore caught on fire leaving residents Jeff and Heather Busch in shock and having to rebuild their life.

The fire started when Heather was cooking dinner for her family, she lit the barbeque to warm it up and then unfortunately the house and her car caught on fire, and both the house and car are completely gone.

Heather got out along with their two kids and two dogs, and Jeff was not home at the time of the fire. However, two of their cats got nervous when the fire started and hide in the house and passed away.

Carey and Ken Rose are friends of the Busch family and Carey speaking on behalf of the Busch family at their request says that this is the worst-case scenario for the family.

"They don't have insurance. They're going to have to replace everything. We've put them up in a hotel for these first few nights until we can get them support and get things rolling."

Jeff has lived in the community all his life and his wife Heather moved here a number of years ago and is an active member in the community.

"She works really hard at volunteering and donating her time back through Project Hope and different organizations throughout the community."
