If you are looking for more ways to connect with the local Strathmore community this summer here are some opportunities for engagement:

  • The Town of Strathmore is still in need of volunteers for its Canada day celebrations. They need volunteers to help supervise bouncy castles, mini-golf, and fishing. These positions are flexible and any amount of time you can contribute will be much appreciated.
  • The Strathmore Overnight Shelter is still looking for volunteers in the areas of kitchen, laundry, cleaning, sorting clothes, preparing food and many others.
  • The Strathmore Municipal Library is always looking for volunteers to help with: shelving materials and shelf-reading, assembling membership packages and assisting with special events such as book sales and author visits. In addition, the library also offers volunteers to host their own programming at the library! This can be anything from hosting a book club to teaching a class to interested and like-minded members and everything in between.
  • The Wheatland County Food Bank is seeking motivated and easy-going volunteers to fill roles in these positions, Telephone screeners, event coordinators, warehouse volunteers and drivers.
  • Looking to help out in local hospitals, rural areas, community programs, and services? The Strathmore District Health Services is looking for volunteers to help out with elderly patients and families, spend time with isolated patients, and patient and family advisors, as well as supporting retail operations

If you are looking to support and uplift one of Strathmore's many charitable or cultural businesses and organizations, please consider lending your time and effort to any or all of these locally run and operated businesses. There are many opportunities to contribute in developing a better and more active community for all.
