We are celebrating Marilyn Galvin as our Volunteer of the Month for June.

A message came in anonymously nominating Galvin for the award.

"She has been very involved in the hamper for many years and she puts so much time and love into making sure all the families in the community have some toys and food for Christmas."

Galvin told us how she reacted the minute she learned she won.

"It felt awesome. I was shocked, I sat there and thought, wow."

Galvin volunteers at many places across town, but the biggest is supporting families.

"I've volunteered for a lot of team sports over the years, of course, because my kids were all involved with that, I also serve as president for a local senior's facility, and of course for the Christmas Hamper."

If you are looking to get out in the community and volunteer, Galvin has some advice for you.

"Just go on the web and search for that organization or that group. There is many in Strathmore that need help and would love to have more volunteers. My success, I didn't do it alone. There's a whole team."

Congratulations to Marilyn Galvin for being the Volunteer of the Month for June, she is walking away with a $100 gift card.
