Today the Alberta government announcer the total number of cases in Alberta has increased by 61 fo a total of 419 cases.  All levels of government are looking to give support and aid to people in need at this difficult time.  Strathmore's leadership is no different.

Strathmore Mayor, Pat Fule took time to update the residents of Strathmore on the steps being taken to help the town "We know that this will be a difficult time for many and we are acting quickly to support our community. Last Wednesday your council voted to suspend penalties on late utilities and tax payments, and now we are working with the administration to develop more robust policies that will help support families and businesses affected by COVID -19."

Our neighbours to the west of us have the most numbers of cases in Alberta and another outbreak was reported at the Nelson Home, a Calgary group home for persons with developmental disabilities. A caseworker and two residents have tested positive for COVID-19 and two other residents are symptomatic.

This can be a scary situation for many in the care profession and our loved ones might be at risk so Fule says you can do something about it, "The acts of kindness and generosity, we've heard from across our community are a true inspiration, and now is the time to scroll through your contacts on your phone. Send a simple message like just checking in. You would be surprised by how much of an impact that can have."

Being diligent in your handwashing and maintaining the social distancing will be the main actions you can do to help the situation and Mayor Fule agrees, this is the way, "Prevention will slow the spread of COV 19, a connection will help us cope with self-isolation and quarantine and support from the town of Strathmore and other levels of government will help us recover and grow in the future."
