Misunderstandings and slights in judgment may not be the direct cause of Derek Fildebrandt's decision to start the Freedom Conservative Party Of Alberta, but like many of us learning from your mistakes seems to be an attribute he has.  The shifting political landscape is definitely a mysterious entity however, Fildebrandt wishes to navigate his road by sticking to his guns.  A newly drawn constituency plan of Chestermere/ Strathmore and a new political party to establish, Fildebrant certainly has his work cut out for him but he says he is eager to meet those challenges. Fildebrandt says his platform is down to earth and straightforward mirroring the values of many people who gave him more than half the popular vote to win his seat as an MLA.  The wing night in Strathmore at a local eatery, is just one of many he plans to host. He stated,"I wanted to do something that wasn't a formal and intimidating like a town hall meeting and just come out and chat about their issues.   Everyone is welcome regardless of partisan affiliation is and just discuss not only political topics but if they did have concerns about community and constituency or policies that are affecting them they could address them in a relaxed setting  and enjoy some wings while they're at it." For Fildebrandt his goals are aimed at empowering provincial government by removing some major decisions in regards to regulations and equalization payments away from the federal level and putting back in Alberta's hands.  Fildebrant has a mission and it is "We want the government out of your wallet, your bedroom, your church and your school. In short, if you are not hurting anyone else, it’s none of the government's business."
