Having a cup of coffee or tea to start the day is a regular morning tradition for many people in Strathmore. The COVID-19 virus may have changed that routine just a little bit.

This morning, Starbucks in Strathmore was pickup only, with no chairs in the restaurant, after an announcement from Starbucks Canada on Sunday the coffee shop chain said it would temporarily remove seating at its stores. Drive-through service remains the same.

In terms of the municipality, to help slow the spread of the virus the town has closed a number of public facilities.

As of 10 a.m. today the following facilities are closed: The Strathmore Aquatic Centre, Strathmore Family Centre Arena, Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre, Strathmore Civic Centre, Strathmore Curling Rink, Happy Gang Seniors Drop-In Centre, Strathmore Child, Youth, and Family Hub, and the Strathmore Public Library.

Refunds will be issued to people who registered for Town of Strathmore programs at the town’s facilities from March 16 to April 12. According to the town, employees will still be on-site to ensure continued maintenance of all facilities. More information on the town’s COVID-19 response can be found on Strathmore.ca and the Town’s Facebook page.
