We are currently under an extreme cold warning, with temperatures today hovering at around -30°C with the windchill, because of this, the Town of Strathmore has opened up the municipal building as a warming centre for anyone who needs to get in from the cold.

From 8:30-4:30, council chambers will be open to the public as long as the extreme cold warning stays in place. With forecasts around -30°C with the windchill forecasted for tomorrow, the council chambers will most likely be open tomorrow as well.

"Avoid unnecessary travel or exposure outdoors, watch for signs of hypothermia or frostbite," the Town said.

Saturday looks to be much warmer, with a high of -4°C forecasted.
