The Federal and Provincial governments are doing what they can to help employers and employees alike.  Even people who do qualify for employment insurance are getting some funding support.

This is what the country has to do as a whole to keep the people going, but what about the not for profit sector.  These organizations are usually run by donor contributions, and in this time of economic uncertainty what can they do?  Guy Mallabone and his group at Global Philanthropic are offering pro bono work through their Virtually GLOBAL product that because of social distancing will happen all online.

Many organizations that rely on fundraising will need all the help they can get says Mallabone, "Not for profit are in a bit of disarray. As a sector, they contribute almost 10 per cent of our GDP, so it is a large part of the economy and yet it is rarely focused on. Donors are uncertain about their own futures and are holding back discretionary income and often times that means that charitable causes aren't receiving the support they received in the past."

Food banks, orchestras, and other organizations will be struggling to get a grip on what the post-COVID -19 world will look like and having access to an experienced fundraising advisor will be quite helpful to many who don't know what their next move will be.

Mallabone outlines where their guidance might be applied," We might be helping a hospital raise money for a hospice, or we might be helping a local church looking for ways to enhance their weekly giving program, or we might be working with a college to help develop their alumni program it just varies."

Organizations may see a series of setbacks to their funding goals that may seem unrelated, but by accessing Virtually Global they could devise a plan Mallabone states, " This is a platform where we can work with boards of directors of not for profits organizations to provide them with advice, and we are doing this on a pro bono manner, month by month and we have a number of free slots open for April and then we will be evaluating the program after each month."
