International Day of Older Persons flag was raised in the concourse Federal Building yesterday. This was a symbolic gesture to recognize the contributions seniors make and to further solidify the actions that took place on 2017, where  International Day of Older Persons was formally recognized for the first time in Alberta through ministerial declaration.  These actions fall in line with the efforts of the United Nations as a way to bring awareness and attention to seniors. This initiative has increased awareness of the misconceptions against seniors and has benefited seniors across the world.

Lori Sigurdson, Minister of Seniors and Housing said this “Seniors built this province and our government is dedicated to supporting them. I am so honored to proclaim this day to celebrate Alberta seniors and recognize their contributions to our communities.”

Locally at the Sagewood  Agecare  Glenda Boc said this about seniors" I think truly none of us would be where we are without our seniors and they paved the way for where we are now innovations always be willing to try and persevering and our seniors talk about the good old days but that was an everyday thing for them."
