At Tuesday's City of Chestermere council meeting, Official Administrator Doug Lagore was presented with two significant gifts.

The first is a gift accepted on behalf of the city from the International Association of Fire Fighters, commemorating the signing of the first Collective Agreement between the City and the Chestermere Professional Firefighter Association, IAFF Local 5284.

"We all have the goal of serving the residents and the visitors of the city of Chestermere in whatever capacity are our jobs, to ask us to do so," said Lieutenant Kimball Yorston, President of IAFF Local 5284.

At a council meeting in February the city approved the first successfully negotiated collective agreement between the IAFF Local 5284 and the city.

The gift includes the pen used to sign the agreement and the contract's date.

Lagore thanked the association for all their hard work and dedication.

"Unfortunately, it took us three and a half years to reach the agreement, but it's his journey, and we're at the end of it now. We now have a good relationship and can move forward on that, and I want to thank you for the dedication of the fire department."

The second gift comes from City Staff and recognizes Lagore's contributions to Chestermere and City Hall.

City Staff presented this banner, which included signatures from staff from all across the city, thanking the Official Administrator for his commitment to staff members. Community members also shared their sentiments during the meeting, thanking Lagore for his diligence in supporting the community.
