A two-vehicle collision near Vulcan claimed the life of a 55-year-old man on Saturday.

At around 5:25 p.m. on July 16, Vulcan RCMP and fire services attended the scene where an SUV collided with a pickup truck.

The pickup was headed south on Highway 23 and was struck on the driver's side by the SUV, which was travelling on Highway 529.

The 55-five-year old driver of the pickup died on the scene and was the only person in the vehicle.

A 34-year-old man was driving the SUV, which also contained a 33-year-old woman and two young children.

The woman was airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance, with the other three taken to hospital via ground ambulance.

An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene, and the highway was closed for several hours.
