On Thursday, June 28 Rosebud Theatre welcomed their one millionth guest.

Celia Harper from Calgary came to see the production of W.O. Mitchell's 'The Kite' and was welcomed with a gift basket filled with prizes from local businesses in the area and cheers from the staff.

Harper who has been to the theatre before said she was thrilled to be part of such a special occasion, and was grateful for the wonderful gifts she was given.

With visitors coming from around Alberta and beyond, Rosebud Theatre continues to expand its reach each year,

“I’m so proud of this theatre and how we’ve continued to grow,” said Tom McCabe, acting Executive Director.

Rosebud has been a staple in the theatre community as well as arts education for over three decades, expanding from the Rosebud Opera House theatre to celebrating local talent with the 15 Minutes of Fame Festival held each year as well showcasing students on the BMO Studio Stage.

Rosebud Theatre is in its 36th season and McCabe recognizes the history of this storied town, “Our first show was in 1983, and twenty-three years later we welcomed our 500,000th visitor, during a 2006 performance of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'. Now, 13 years later we have hit the one million mark."

Rosebud is a gem in the valley. With the dedication of staff, students and residents, and the support of visitors like Harper there is no end in sight to this prairie theatre.
