As of May 5, there were seven cases reported in Wheatland County five active and two recovered that were listed on the Wheatland County Municipality Map.

With nine more deaths reported in Alberta due to COVID-19, that is including four over the last 48 hours now sees Alberta's death toll at 104.

There have only been 70 new cases, bringing the total for Alberta to 5,836 and out of that 2,942 people have been reported as recovered.

The cases at the Cargill plant north of High River to date total 936, however, 810 people have been reported recovered.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Chief Medical Officer of Health, notes she has heard of people being stigmatized, which can harm efforts to stop the spread of the virus and get people help.

"When people are stigmatized or targeted it blocks our collective ability to control the spread as people may fear getting tested or talking to public health," she says. "We should be supporting people who are in this situation, not stigmatizing them."

Hinshaw does say in regards to the cases reported at the Mountainview Poultry Plant in Okotoks where one person was infected, supports were put in place right away and there have only been five cases at the plant since the first was reported.

As the province is set to relaunch Hinshaw encourages everyone to help in the effort to relaunch the economy and improve tracking the virus.
