Wakapa's Garden is put together by the community that gathered resources from many different age groups.  The Communities in Bloom group from Strathmore have been looking for ways to make our town more green and a growing living part of our lives.  From helping out the Garden of Eat'n community lots near the Hope Community Covenant Church, to a new project that shows school children how to grow plants.  The garden boxes were built by the shop class at Strathmore High School and the knowledge is provided by the  Communities in Bloom's Robert Breitweiser.

The students are virtual seeds that need to grow into budding horticulturalists.   Breitweiser talks about the lovely space they have created, "It's an educational tool, and that is the one thing that we really want to stress, that we want to teach children the value of gardening, working together on a project, planning the garden and watching it grow."  Keeping it clean, harvesting the vegetables, and enjoying them is also important .  He explained that there is a sense of pride in working together, building something and growing something themselves.

George Freeman School also received a garden box where they planted bulbs for next spring.
