A pedestrian was killed on the Trans-Canada Highway in Wheatland County in the early hours of August 22. Gleichen RCMP responded along with emergency services to the accident between a pedestrian and a semi-trailer at approximately 12:20 a.m.

According RCMP, the semi-truck was travelling eastbound on the Trans-Canada Highway near Range Road 211 when it stuck the pedestrian.

The 38-year-old man from Taber was pronounced dead at the scene. Traffic was diverted from the highway until about 5 a.m. while RCMP conducted their investigation and the scene was cleared.
