Project H.O.P.E. is an organization run throughout Wheatland County within the Golden Hills School Division (GHSD), the group provides programming for children with exceptionalities in GHSD.

In a normal year, the team would plan a large spring gala where the bulk of their funding for the year would come from as there is no direct government funding and it is all provided through generous donations and grant funding they are able to secure.

This year along with many organizations, Project H.O.P.E. has not been able to complete its fundraising events. Tyler Bertamini treasurer with Project H.O.P.E. notes that this program takes more than $100,000 annually to run and the team is looking to the new school year and working to secure funding to support the students and families who rely on the program.

Project H.O.P.E. board member, Alaina Heming, explains what this can mean for their organization, "It means that we will struggle to run our programs this upcoming school year as the fundraiser is the primary source of money for us."

In light of not having their normal annual fundraiser, Heming notes they are looking at new ways to have some much-needed fun and raise money at the same time, "We're going to do a charity golf scramble at the Oxbow Golf Course. We're looking to have up to 15 teams of 4, so up to 60 golfers."

Along with an 18 hole round of golf, burgers, and different hole prizes, they will also be holding a 50/50 raffle at the event.

As this is their first venture into a golf tournament the team is excited to try something new, "It's a small scale to start as we have never done anything like this before but we know there is a lot of interest in the community for golf.  People have been so supportive of Project H.O.P.E. with our gala we are hoping that some of those same supporters will come and support us with this," Heming continued.

In addition to long time supporters, Heming is looking forward to welcoming new supporters to Project H.O.P.E. through the golf tournament and introducing them to what the program is about. Along with golfers, the team with Project H.O.P.E. explains this event is also open to anyone who would like to become a sponsor whether that be a hole or event sponsor.

The goal for Project H.O.P.E. is to continue to grow for GHSD and offer the program to more students and families as they go forward so as many children as can benefit will.
