The province believes less chit chat after a driving exam can increase the number of driving tests and help alleviate the current backlog.

Starting in January, the on-road portion of the test remains at 25 minutes, with five minutes allotted for introductions and a post-test debrief, for a total of 30 minutes.

When the Government took it over, those post-test debriefings were extending the exam period to 45 minutes meaning fewer tests and longer wait times.

In the meantime, Albertans can provide feedback about their experiences with road testing through an online survey.

The Government also plans to meet with registry agents, driver examiners and the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees to discuss ways to improve wait times and service delivery.

The survey will be available online until Sunday, December 22.
