Thursday, May 30th is the day that Alberta Premier Jason Kenney has said that his United Conservative Party (UCP) government would be getting rid of the carbon tax.

Stopping the carbon tax according to Kenney will put $1.4 billion a year back into the pockets of the Alberta taxpayers.

Albertans should not get too comfortable as the Federal Government has stated that any province that does not implement a provincial carbon tax will be subject to a federal one.

There is uncertainty as to when that may happen, while in Edmonton last week Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said there were no immediate plans to install the federal carbon tax on Alberta, he did state that no province would be exempt from a carbon tax.

Kenney during his campaign noted that if a federal carbon tax was put into place that he would take the issue to court.
