There is a lot going on this weekend! From Holiday events to sports, there is no shortage of things you can do to have a great weekend. Find out below what you can get up to this weekend, each day is packed with activities!

Friday night: A busy sports night!

The Strathmore Spartans are making their first ever finals appearance tonight at 7:00 PM! The game will be at Shouldice Athletic Park's Hellard Field in Calgary, go cheer them on! Read more about the team here.

The Wheatland AA Braves will also be playing their feature game at the Strathmore Arena at 7:30 PM, you can go cheer the team on and help make it a special night for them! Read more about them here.

Friday, Saturday: 104.5 More Country Toy Drive

The 104.5 More Country team will be at Canadian tire from 3:00-6:00 PM on Friday and 11:00 AM-4:00 PM on Saturday for the annual Christmas Hamper Days Toy Drive! Come say hi to the team and donate toys, food, or cash to get an entry to win a pair of tickets to Country Thunder next summer! PJ's Diner will also be joining us with their famous pies that can be purchased with a donation, and Special Force Towing will be there with their heavy rescue truck!

Friday night: Tree lighting and caroling at the Splash Park Pavillion! 

Featuring the Strathmore Filipino Canadian Association! Enjoy some traditional carols and hot chocolate as we light the tree - signaling the start of Holiday Celebrations in Strathmore! Celebrations start at 6:00 pm at the Splash Park Pavilion with free Hot Chocolate and Coffee provided by Flip Flop Coffee Shop. 

Saturday, Sunday: Wheatland Kings Hockey

On Saturday at 8:00 PM the Kings will take on the High River Flyers and Saturday night is also their annual food drive for the Wheatland County Food Bank!

They will be back on the ice Sunday at 4:30 PM, to play the Red Deer Vipers!

Saturday: A full day of Christmas festivities

  • 10:00-4:00 Strathmore Farmers Market Christmas Market at the Strathmore Civic Centre
  • 10:00-4:00 The Strathmore Trading Post Fall Market at the AG Grounds 
  • 10:00-12:00 Family Jingleball (dodgeball) at the Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre
  • 10:00-4:30 House of the Christmas Mouse - hosted by Hope Community Covenant Church - register here
  • 2:00 Free Christmas Movie at Joyland Theatre! This Saturday it's "Elf"
  • 5:00 Santa Claus Parade
  • 6:00-9:00 Opening day of the Celebration of Lights! This will run every night leading up to Christmas- Fireworks at 7:15! 

Sunday: Even more Christmas!

  • 10:00-12:00 Candy Cane Swim at the Strathmore Aquatic Centre. Pre-registration is open
  • 1:00-3:00 Skate with Santa at the Strathmore Family Centre Arena
