SHS SR. Boys basketball is off to a good start winning their last home game against Strathcona Tweedsmuir 80 to 65 and then second place in the Tournament

Coach Matt Laslo outlines the results from that second-place win, "It was really good we finished second in the tournament we lost to grande prairie composite by eight in the tournament final.  We beat George McDougall out of Airdrie, then we beat Innisfail.  They weren't particularly close games but we are pretty strong this year we should be a pretty good team."

The team is seasoned and have a great set of tools to get the job done on the court, Laslo highlights their strengths, "We are pretty long at all the positions.  We shoot the ball pretty well.  We've got some pretty season players who have played a lot of basketball, so we can score in a lot of different ways.  We are pretty good defenders."

Basketball is such a team-focused sport it is no wonder that for this team's success they will rely on a couple of leaders Laslo says, "We have six returning grade twelve players that are all captains they are kind of our leaders."

The Strathmore Spartans home basketball tournament will be at the beginning of February 2020.
