Dignitaries from the Town of Strathmore and Siksika Nation participated in the grand entry for the Poo’ kaiks Tiny Tot Powwow Showcase on Wednesday night at the Kinsmen Park Ampitheatre. Francis Wolfleg began the ceremony with a prayer.

The afternoon was followed with inter-tribal dances before going into a number of different categories of dances accompanied by First Nations drumming and singing.

A meal was also served to participants.

Strathmore Town Councillor Denise Peterson gave thanks to the dignitaries and visitors who were present and said, “I am amazed at all the children who have come, you absolutely bless us by being here with us today, and I am so grateful for all the elder wisdom that has been coming to our community."

The community event was held as part of Alberta Culture Days festivities. And was hosted by Trellis Society, Siksika Family Resource Network, Siksika Children’s services, The Town of Strathmore, Wheatland FCSS, and the Government of Alberta.
