Shrek The Musical is coming to Strathmore High School from June 2 to June 7.

George Crawford, who plays Shrek, and Mackenzie Duggan who plays Donkey, are looking forward to sharing this musical experience with audiences.

Along with Crawford and Duggan, director Deanne Bertsch and the cast and crew of 36 are working tirelessly leading up to their first performance.

Crawford is excited to share his character with audiences, "I feel pretty good, put a lot of work into the show. Shrek's a big character. I have to remember to stand tall because he is always taking up so much space."

Duggan is cast as Donkey who in this show as the advocate for all of the fairy tale creatures.

Duggan is enjoying the musical aspect to this show and what that gives the audience, "It's silly and funny and I think that's what people are expecting. It is kind of a big joke, but there is also a flip side to it to that you don't see as much in the movie but you see it more in the musical."

After a few months of pre-production and many rehearsals, the cast will be heading to the stage for their first performance on Sunday, June 2, with a matinee performance at 2 p.m.

Audiences can also take in the show on June 3, 4 and 6 at 7 p.m. tickets are ten dollars and are available by calling the high school to book in advance, or tickets can be purchased at door.
