The Strathmore High School Curling Club sent three teams to the South Central Zone in Cochrane.  Michelle Ledene and Brad Steele coached the teams that saw a lot of participation and success through their Juniors Program in Strathmore. The mixed team had not played together as a team before, so they had a big learning curve when it came to the level of competition at Zones.  Ledene commented on the growth they saw from the team, "We saw tremendous growth in these curlers from the first games to the last game, and they are all Grade 10 and 11 students, so hopefully they are going to curl for us for two more years."

The big win came from the girls' team of, Cheldynn Molnar, Sydnie Molnar, Jayla Robertson, Calyn Kobsar and Jaden Kobsar.  Ledene recounts the path to the win, "They did great they won their pool and then they went on to play against a really tough team from Delia who had their draw weight down like you wouldn't believe. Unfortunately, we lost in our cross over game, but then we went on and won a bronze medal quite handily over the fourth-place team."

Even though it is still a great success for the local high school it still was a little bittersweet according to Ledene, "A bit of a disappointment because these girls went to provincials last year, but at the same time there are some new curlers on that team and they actually did a really great job bringing home bronze for Strathmore High."
