The SHS senior girls basketball team had a good showing last Wednesday as they beat the visiting Strathcona Tweedsmuir squad 63 to 35.

Head Coach Kyle Larson said they were slow to start in front of the home crowd, "I think the first game at home, a little bit of jitters maybe. It just took us a little bit to get going, but once in the second and third quarters, we started clicking and then played pretty good. Fourth-quarter we had a pretty good lead and kind of tried a few things so a little bit of learning when on in the fourth quarter, but definitely a good middle frame in the second and third."

The senior team used that momentum to really dominate the second half of the game, but it was expected Larson says, "We knew going in that we should be able to impose our will in that game we are definitely the bigger school out of the two of those and this group of girls has been together for quite some time like for a number of years, our confidence against them is definitely going to be at a different level."

The next challenge will be this weekend at the SAIT Silver Belle Tournament where they will have to face some larger schools, but Larson is optimistic about the matchups, "It funny this is a good tournament for us, a lot of bigger schools. Our first matchup is against last year's defending provincial champions.  We are kind of going to see, we are going to get thrown into the fire a little bit and see where we are at this weekend. I don't know much about the teams we are playing because they are bigger schools, so it will be a big test for us."
