After a rocky start to the season, the Strathmore High School Girls Rugby team has turned things around to the point where they are beating their opponents by almost 40 points.  Head Coach Jerry Flaws gave all the credit to his team and said they were the one who is doing all the heavy lifting.

Team Captain Aiden McBean, explained, "Most of the first year players never watched the games and never played so once the girls started to come to practices and put in the work and picked up the slack things turned around."

Ashoinn Sparow a third-year player on the team talked about the win that qualified them for the zone final by defeating Highriver in the semifinal by a score of 52-15.  She said, "It was really intense. Our aggression was way higher than the other team's and they were scared because we would just grab the ball and we were just more aggressive with it.

Mcbean, said the upcoming zones match with Foothill Composite High School, even though they won last game she likes their chances, "We did not have the energy to finish the game. We have improved a lot since then and it has been a couple of weeks since we last saw them so I'm confident we can take them."

That game will happen May 30th at 4 p. m. at Calgary Rugby Park 9025 Shepherd Road
