As of February 8, Siksika First Nation has banished a non-member of the First Nation who was charged with child sex offences.

The suspect was charged wit a number of sexual offences against two children from the reserve, The non-member will not be allowed on the reserve.

According to a Siksika Nation press release dated Feb. 10, the non-nation member resided on the Siksika Nation for an extended period of time. On February 5, he was charged with two counts of sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual exploitation of a young person, invitation to sexual touching, child pornography, forcible confinement, assault and uttering threats.

He will appear at Siksika Provincial Court on February 21.

According to the First Nation, leadership’s main priority is to protect the identity of the youth victims and their families. The name of the accused will not be released.
