A car accident on Highway 797 and south of 22X resulted in serious injuries, requiring a STARs helicopter to arrive on scene. Township Road 224 was closed initially, but has since reopened since the accident.

STARS said their helicopter was skids up from the base at 4:45 a.m. and landed at Foothills Medical Centre with the patient at 7:07 a.m.

"STAR-1 crew and helicopter were dispatched for a scene call near Indus for an MVC (motor vehicle collision) between a motorcycle and a grader. We cared for and carried a 53 YOM (year old male) who sustained serious injuries in the crash, to Foothills Medical Centre where he arrived in stable condition," STARS Manager of External Relations & Marketing Deborah Tetley said in a written response.

Tetley added Chestermere EMS, Indus Fire Department, and local RCMP all provided assistance at the scene as well.
