The 2018 campaign for the Strathmore and Wheatland County Christmas Hamper Society is going very well. “We have just finished our first executive and AGM meeting for approval of this year’s budget and our campaign will be officially starting on November 12,” said Craig Stone.

The Christmas hamper is the official annual appeal that is held in Strathmore and Wheatland County. The aim is to provide one month’s worth of groceries to each family that qualifies for the program, but hampers also contain items like clothing and toys for kids.

A massive amount of work goes into providing hampers for a large number of families and children every year, and continuous community support is needed.

This year, the Christmas hamper is aiming to help 250 families in Strathmore and Wheatland County.

“These hampers will not only consist of food products, but also toys and clothing for all of the needy children in the families that are under the age of 18 years,” said Stone.

“It’s extremely important for our communities to continue to support this program because we have about 250 families that we want to try to provide a months worth of groceries to,” said Stone.

In addition, the Strathmore and Wheatland County Christmas Hamper Society will be continuing their Stuff A Bus program, which will begin on November 17. The program will run through to December 21 and December 22 for delivery.

In the coming weeks the society will also be launching a new website, which will update the community on important dates and events, and keep an eye out for the Strathmore and Wheatland County Christmas Hamper Society on your local news outlets.
