The annual Canada Day Festival put on by the Town of Strathmore was held again this year at Kinsmen Park.

With a few thousand people visiting the park on July 1 there was a great atmosphere to celebrate Canada.

The day started off with a pancake breakfast at the Strathmore Fire Hall. The festivities continued over at Kinsmen Park with a variety of events and activities for the entire family.

At 11 a.m. the Ecole Brentwood Elementary School senior choir sang the national anthem with the crowd joining in as the flag was raised.

The town staff and crew of volunteers helped to make this day happen. Families were entertained with a petting zoo, gladiator jousting, and the very popular watermelon eating contest along with many other activities.

The scouts had the canoes out on the lake for festival-goers to take a trip around the lake, and the bike parade as always was a hit with the kids.

There were bands on hand as well, Taken By Sanity, and Matt Blais took the stage in the afternoon.

With a fast weather change, the festivities at the park did have to wrap up earlier than planned, but with a turn in the weather, the fireworks were able to go off as planned and close out another great Canada Day celebration in Strathmore.
