Every day the Town of Strathmore makes efforts to keep the community updated with good information related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Pat Fule had some helpful advice for residents this week.

“Seeing the messages of support for front line workers and first responders online and in our community is uplifting. If you want to support these community champions, then please make their jobs a little bit easier. Think safety first to reduce emergency calls. Use the Health Link 811 service for health advice instead of a hospital trip, and stay home to slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Fule.

Over the last few weeks, like many communities in Canada, local businesses which are not deemed essential, have been forced to temporarily shut their doors.

Fule addressed the issue of the Strathmore region business community.

“In challenging times we have each other's backs. Strathmore’s businesses moved quickly to slow the spread and protect our community. They will need our support in the weeks and months ahead,” he said.

In terms of community events, the Town has created a new contest that aims to help kids understand what’s happening during the COVID-19 crisis.

Called #StrathmoreCreativeKids, the contest aims to answer their questions. Kids can share a new public health message each week. This week’s theme is “Washing your hands helps protect you and your family from COVID-19.” The town will be reviewing all entries on Friday, April 3.
