The deadline for registration to get your kids and teenagers signed up for minor hockey is fast approaching.

Brett Thurston, the president of the Strathmore Minor Hockey Association, says it's important for kids to get involved in hockey.

"It's all about teamwork, you meet new friends. I think it's vital for kids of all ages to be involved in a team aspect."

According to Thurston, he's excited about this year as more people have been signing up.

"We've seen our registrations increase and we are hoping to track more kids."

The deadline to sign up is June 30 and the full season will run from October until March of next year.
