On Wednesday Golden West Broadcasting and 104.5 More Country presented the Strathmore Musical Arts Society with $3,200 in grant funding.

The Strathmore Musical Arts Society hosts a variety of events in the community of Strathmore which brings arts and entertainment to the community, including a number of dinner and music productions.

Anne Bailey with the musical arts society says the new funding will help music flourish in Strathmore.

“We will continue to bring live music into Strathmore and also we showcase local talent as well and bring them to the forefront.” She explained they regularly showcase local talent as opening acts.

The musical arts society, while they are themselves a non-profit, Bailey explained one of their highlights this year is being able to give back to the community. This year in February the proceeds from one of the events went to support the Strathmore shelter.

“We like to give back to the community,” Bailey said.

Bailey noted this season the group will be working to bring a new performance to Strathmore in September that will be hosted at the Ag. Society. The Travelling Mabels will also be returning for music overs in December for a Christmas season show for the community this year.

Bailey spoke about why it’s so important to expose the community to arts programming.

“I just believe that music brings joy to one soul, and that's why we want to bring joy into the world and to the community. By providing the live music,” she said.
