A dedicated team of volunteers from Strathmore’s Royal Canadian Legion are hard at work putting together this year’s Terry Fox Run.

The Strathmore Terry Fox Run will take place on Sunday September 16, 2018 at Kinsmen Park. The run starts at 1 p.m.

It will be held at Kinsmen Park at Lakeside Boulevard. A special invitation has been extended for Chestermere and Langdon residents to join as well.

Strap on your running shoes and enjoy a run, walk, or bike around town, or come cheer the participants on. Donations can be made on race day at the park.

Pledge sheets are available at Rebel Sports, Town Office, and the Royal Canadian Legion.

“Now is the time to sign up your sponsors,” according to Jug McLeod, Royal Canadian Legion volunteer and member of the Legion Terry Fox Run Team.

Fox embarked on his Marathon of Hope in 1980 with an aim of raising funds for cancer research. To date the Terry Fox Foundation has raised almost $750 million for caner research worldwide.

The run is a non-competitive, and family-friendly event.

Funds gained through pledges are forwarded to the Terry Fox Foundation.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the Terry Fox Run.

The race is a flexible run, walk, bike, or rollerblade event. The route is also wheelchair accessible and the run is dog friendly. Participants can do a 5km or 10 km run.
