Canadian Badlands is a geographical region 90000 square km in size and  60 member shareholders. Their main goal is to promote, develop and encourage tourism in the region to make it an Iconic tourism destination.

Lonna Hoggan Executive Director of the Badlands committee stated "9 years ago the Canadian Badlands received funding from the Alberta government.  There were about 40 communities that received money and there were many large signs put up throughout the region. Templates for the sign were sent out and they are hopeful that they will get more funding to help out the remaining communities who don't have a sign."

Each community can have up to three representatives and Strathmore does have the full membership roster.  Strathmore Mayor Pat Fule was up for nomination to the board but was not elected.  As a means to hear the other voices from the region, a number of committees will be set up by The Canadian Badland board in the next year.
