17-year-old Strathmore High School graduate, Noah Chase Samuels just signed with the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) to play with the VI Raiders in Nanaimo BC.

Samuels has been playing football since he was 11 years old in Strathmore and has played for the last three years at the high school with the Spartans. The high school films every game so that the players can send out the tapes after they graduate.

"I sent my film out to a couple of them (CJFL teams), and the guy got back to me, and they said they'd like me to come out in April. I went out in April for a spring camp to try out for the team and they got back to me June 1 and they said they'd like to sign me."

Realizing that he wanted to make football his career came very easily to Samuels as he knew that he wanted to be serious with his future with football in the tenth grade, but also because of his coach Kyle Tucker, who has been a huge inspiration. However, it wasn't just Tucker who inspired Samuels.

"He was just a big mentor to me on and off the field, he was there for me and always there to push me to my limits. Watching my older brothers play my whole life has also been a really cool experience."

Samuels is very sports driven because when he is off the field, he likes to wind down by playing golf and basketball.

Samuels will be leaving to go start this new journey in Nanaimo BC in the second week in July.
