Strathmore, along with parts of Wheatland County, Siksika Nation, Rocky View County, and Vulcan County are under an extreme cold warning.

The warning was issued by Environment Canada on Friday March 1st at 3:30 p.m.

The warning represents periods of very cold wind chills.

The coldest wind chill values will be between - 40 C and - 45 C tonight and into Saturday morning.

The extreme cold wind chills are expected to taper off Saturday afternoon and return overnight for parts of southern Alberta overnight into Sunday morning.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures, or wind chills create an elevated risk to health like frost bite and hypothermia.
