The U15B Strathmore Venom Lacrosse Club took home gold during the city championship in Calgary last night.

The team beat the Calgary Axemen 6-4 in a close matchup.

According to Kurtis Bressler, a parent with the Strathmore Venom, the club played an incredible game.

"The boys went down by a couple pretty quick in the game, but they rallied back to take the 6-4 win. It was a nailbiter all game, both teams fought hard back and forth."

Bressler says the team will be playing in an upcoming provincial tournament next weekend.

"For I think most of the kids it's the first they'll ever be playing in the provincial tournament."

Provincials will run from July 12-14 in Sylvan Lake and Red Deer.

Games are as follows:

  • Friday July 12 at 12:30 p.m. at the G.H. Dawe Twin Arena versus Red Deer Chiefs.
  • Saturday July 13 at 3:30 p.m. at the G.H. Dawe Twin Arena versus Lethbridge Barracudas.
