Strathmore Overnight Shelter's is holding their 'Before it gets Cold March' is set for October 28. This walk is the overnight shelters biggest fundraising event of the year. The goal this year is to raise $10,000.00. Last year the walk raised $6,300.00.

Volunteer Coordinator for the Strathmore Overnight Shelter Joanne Nelner said that the reason behind the walk is to have people understand how cold it can be in the winter months for the clients that they work with, especially when they are sleeping outside.

"In the past we've done it where it was very cold, and we really had to bundle up and spending that time outside gives people an idea of what our homeless population goes through in the colder months."

This is the Overnight Shelter's biggest fundraiser so that the Overnight Shelter can remain operational because they don't get a lot of government funding.

There will be a 2 KM and a 5 KM walk that people choose to participate in. There is also going to be a 50/50 fundraiser, silent auction and when the walk is over a stew dinner will be served to all who participated.

The walk is from 4 P.M to 8 P.M. Registration starts at 3:30 P.M.

Strathmore's Overnight Shelter wants to send out a huge thank you to the community and Tina's No Frills for their generosity and support.
