Strathmore's Hope Community Covenant Church will be hosting Strathmore's very own women's conference on April 9th.  This event will have Jocelyn Hastie Author of the Cowgirls Code and over all inspiring person is scheduled as the Keynote speaker.

Hastie explained the kind of message she is hoping to share with the attendees at the conference.

“We have these ideas about Cowboys and Cowgirls and their way of life, and that they're independent and competent and get things done.  I completely believe that we are all capable of doing that, and I think that we go off track a little when we let other people influence our thinking too much."

Hastie is looking forward to sharing the process that she has built to help people to get back to a simpler way of life.

"So, what I do is I have a four-step process that allows you to identify what your own core values are and build your own code of conduct very similar to my own cowgirl code."

After years working her way up the corporate ladder Hastie found herself filled with anxiety and worried that she couldn’t keep everyone around her happy. To combat her rising issues she moved out to the country and began reviewing her own core values while spending time closer to nature.

“To me it all ties to the lessons I've learned from my horses. No horse in the world, even when they spook at a paper bag, looks around to see if any of the other horses saw them spook. They never worry about whether this saddle makes their butt look big, they just live in the moment and they live their own life."

Stepping back and taking stock of what was important helped to settle Hastie's mind.

"As humans, we spend so much time worrying. For me the cowgirl code and the code of conduct is all about setting up a code of conduct for your life that provides you with guideposts and some certainty."

Jocelyn Hastie is an accomplished writer, motivational speaker, and guide for people will to listen to her story.
