More kids in Strathmore are diving into their imagination after picking up a book. Participation in the Strathmore Municipal Library's Summer Reading Program rose significantly this year compared to last year, according to Rachel Dick-Hughes director of library services for the Strathmore Municipal Library.

It went really well, our registration was up significantly from last year. I think last year we had 105 and this year we had 150,” she said.

This summer as a way to wrap up the Summer Reading Program, Christopher Cool and his magic show are back by popular demand at the library.

Cool will be at the library on August 10 with his magic show as part of the wrap up for the Summer Reading Program.

“We’ve had Christopher Cool come a few times before, it’s always crazy packed. He’s a lot of fun so we are excited to have him here,” said Dick-Hughes.

“Our summer staff did a great job of visiting the schools before the end of the school year. We got a lot of kids joining the program this year, which we are very happy about,” she said. Good weather also enabled organizers to hold more outdoor activities this summer. The newly renovated library also has a large programming room.

“Also having that huge program room as made a difference. We are having a lot of fun,” she said.
