The 2023 World Professional Chuckwagon Association's (WPCA) Team Series wrapped up last week at the Century Downs World Finals and it was Team Strathmore, led by their veteran driver Jason Glass, that was recognized as the series champions.

Glass, along with Chance Bensmiller, Chad Fike and Kris Molle, combined for 2721.5 points to capture $20,000.00 in prize money and the Western Retailers Cup. Each driver will receive $5000 each plus new clothes from Lammle's Western Wear.

5 teams with 4 drivers per team made up the team series. The teams represented WPCA race communities where 4 western wear retailers operate with Century Downs Racetrack and Casino added as the final event.

Teams were picked prior to the race season by a representative from either a participating show committee or Western wear retailer through a draft process.

Wagon Boss for the Strathmore Stampede Sandra Green says that she hopes this series will continue to grow as the years go on.

"They're thinking of bringing in more communities and of course, more drivers and they will see that it wasn't that hard, they got new shirts, jeans, boots, and more sponsorships as they went. It's a win-win so why not be a part of it."

Points earned by team members in Grande Prairie, Ponoka, Strathmore, Rocky Mountain House, and Century Downs determined the standings.
