Justin Trudeau accompanied by his family in Ottawa walked together to drop the writ, which will dissolve parliament launching Canada's 43rd general election. The vote is to be held on October 21, 2019

The leaders of Canada's main political parties are the Liberal Party's Justin Trudeau, and Conservative Party's Andrew Scheer are the front runners in a number of poles.  Other parties vying for seats are NDP's Jagmeet Singh Yves-Francois Blanchet of the Bloc Québécois, Green Party's Elizabeth May, and People's Party of Canada's Maxime Bernier.

Our current Member of Parliament, Martin Shields, released the following "I believe that I am the right voice to continue representing the constituents of Bow River as their Member of Parliament. I have spent the last four years working hard to stand up for our community in Parliament on the issues that matter most: from strongly opposing Trudeau's Carbon Tax to fighting against the Liberal's anti-pipeline policies. Throughout this campaign, I will continue working hard to earn the support of the constituents in Bow River."

No other local candidates were campaigning in the Bow River electoral district at the time of this article.
